Sphere Petroleum QSC is an oil and gas company engaged in the exploration, development and production business with current focus on both onshore and offshore areas in West and North Africa and in the Middle East.  However, the Company is opportunity-driven and is considering projects in other areas which meet Sphere's investment criteria.

Sphere Petroleum QSC was originally formed as a subsidiary of Sphere Investments Ltd., an Australian company quoted on the Australian Stock Exchange.  In 2007, it was spun out of Sphere Investments Ltd. and established as an independent, private company in the State of Qatar.  Major shareholders include Qatari and Saudi Arabian interests as well as international institutions and individuals, including board members.

Sphere's strategy is to select projects with good hydrocarbon potential, acceptable political risk and favourable commercial terms.  The Company has the expertise and experience to evaluate the technical and commercial merits of potential hydrocarbon projects as well as manage the political and cultural challenges in its focus region.

At present, all of Sphere's assets are located in the Republic of Guinea Bissau and in the Republic of Mali.  In the Republic of Guinea Bissau the Company is operator of offshore Blocks 1 and 5B via its wholly-owned subsidiary Sphere Petroleum Corp. In the Republic of Mali Sphere operates Blocks 8 and 10 through its 95% subsidiary Mali Petroleum SA.
