Summary

Sphere Petroleum QSC through its Malian subsidiary company, Mali Petroleum SA, operates two exploration permits in the Republic of Mali from its regional office in Bamako, Mali. These are Block 8 in the Taoudeni Basin and Block 10 in the Gao Graben. The company, through its subsidiary Sphere Petroleum Corporation BVI was awarded two blocks in Guinea Bissau and these were formally gazetted in April 2008.  The permits cover Block 1 in the shallow water offshore area and Block 5B, which is largely in deep water

The company is in an advanced stage of negotiations over the grant of an exploration permit in Niger and evaluating other opportunities in west and northwest Africa.

At Sphere Petroleum's recent Board Meeting, held on 16 December 2008, the Board resolved that the resignation of Mr John Scott as technical director and Board member be accepted and that Mr Scott be thanked for his efforts and good work during his lengthy tenure with the company.
